Week 25: 6/17/12-6/23/12

Sunday, June 17th: Happy Father's Day! First day without the girls for their 7 week stint this summer, and I wish they were able to be here for their Daddy, but we'll have a great time without them, too.  Lunch/Dinner with my family at Maggiano's to celebrate.  I made bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits for a later dinner, too, but Hudson got ahold of mine...

Monday, June 18th: So I guess my sleep deprivation has gotten so severe that I don't even realize when I'm being woken up.  I was convinced that Hudson slept a full 8 hours last night, and was rocking out the happy dance... until Nate told me that he woke up, I got up and fed him, then he went back to bed, and I was thoroughly out the entire time... thanks for the buzz-kill babe!  Hudson barfed ALL OVER his high chair, and I couldn't get it apart to clean it (thanks, honey, for putting it together, but it's supposed to be collapsable!), so I stuck it in the bathtub full of hot, sudsy water to soak... creative cleaning!
Tuesday, June 19th: Several firsts today: riding in a shopping cart for more than a couple minutes, transferring from carseat to crib (even though I set off the car alarm in the process), splashing in the bathtub, and pulling up to standing including a 90 degree turn (I helped brace his outside leg since it was in the bathtub so he could get the other leg under him, but he understood the mechanics of it).

Wednesday, June 20th: Turns out that the library has cancelled the lap baby story time (I guess because there were only 5 babies when Meagan and I went last), so we crashed the toddler one today... and boy, was it crowded!  Then, when Daddy got home from work, we popped some popcorn and watched Star Wars :)

Thursday, June 21st: Getting a good start on my to-do list today, though I've noticed that it looks like I'm moving in the wrong direction... the living room is in complete shambles, but I'm banishing dust bunnies, steam cleaning everything, and painting the cabinet in the bathroom... this house is going to look SO different come the end of the summer.
Friday, June 22nd: Well, since I needed just a few more minutes of peace, I was cruising youtube for videos Hudson could watch this morning to keep his pacified, and stumbled across the Ice Age Christmas movie... in Russian.  Good thing Hud doesn't really understand what's going on anyways, because it kept him quiet and happy for half an hour!

Saturday, June 23rd: Hudson's first peer birthday party (sorry, Auntie Meg, your birthday doesn't really count since it was a ton of girls and he was only a week old) was today in Raleigh.  Ayden is two and Garret is three!  He didn't do much playing since jump houses are geared towards the bigger kiddos, but he did eat pizza for the first time... and boy, did he enjoy it :)

Week 24: 6/10/12-6/16/12

Sunday, June 10th: Hudson: *fuss fuss fuss*   Me: Want to cuddle?   Hud: Ok!   Me: Boohaha - gotcha! Naptime :-)
Monday, June 11th: Trying to get the girls to clean their room before they leave for Florida... didn't realize it was going to be an ALL DAY affair >.<  Nate got home just in time to get sweet baby kisses before bed.
Tuesday, June 12th: Okay, so I'm totally screwing up the little bit of a routine we had going for us... but how can you say "no" to this? So thankful to my hubby for giving me the opportunity to spent dreary rainy days cuddling and napping on the couch with our little angel. There will be a time for to-do lists later, when he's not interested in snuggling. Until then, I'm going to soak it up!
Wednesday, June 13th: Raleigh day today :) The girls got haircuts (I missed out on my opportunity while visiting our deet-da-deet lender for refinancing documents) and they look FANTABULOUS!
Thursday, June 14th: Happy Flag Day! Today, we've made such progress on the to-do list (since the time when the girls are leaving is growing very short) - the sunroom's actually the right color now :)

Friday, June 15th: Random goings on today... got a new paci for Hud (finally! he likes a particular shape and after the 6 month size, they stop making them in that shape... so i finally found another brand that sticks to it), got the calendar put up on the wall (only 4 1/2 months later!), an unexpected nap with Hudson... in his crib, and a second attempt at feeding Hudson pears-which went well until about 8 hours later when he threw them up... guess he can't eat them :(

Saturday, June 16th: Today, we bought a treadmill... for only $25!! And Hudson has learned to pull himself up on someone's hands. We still do most of the work, but it's just an indication that he's going to be on the go REALLY soon!  Today's the last day with the girls before they head to Florida for the majority of the summer... wonder if Hud will remember Sissies when they get back?  He'll be so different by then, they're going to be suprised!

Week 23: 6/3/12-6/9/12

Sunday, June 3rd: Hudson's newest thing is standing while holding onto something. He's still working on the balance aspect of it (especially since he's constantly wanting to chew on everything), but he's got super strong legs and can stay upright forever!
Monday, June 4th: Happy 1/2 Birthday, Hudson!!

Tuesday, June 5th: I had to get a wisdom tooth pulled today (and I hate the dentist!) so we went to Raleigh so I could get some help with Hudson.  We got a couple different sippy cups for him to try since the one I got yesterday didn't seem to be working out too well, and Hud tried a teething cookie (and got the whole hand-to-mouth thing going really quickly).
Wednesday, June 6th: Spent the night with Mimi & Pop and went to Palsie's Popcorn today.  Hudson LOVED the dill pickle popcorn (only the fluffy ball part on top) - silly baby!  We got Hud's big boy carseat installed and checked by the Wake Forest Police Department... no more switching carseats when we visit Mimi & Pop - and this one's good until he reaches 100 pounds!  Natalie was inducted into Beta Club tonight too!
Thursday, June 7th: Lyssie got a bunch of awards today... on her LAST DAY OF MIDDLE SCHOOL!  Hudson fell asleep on the couch with me today, got a little sweaty-headed, and ended up with a curl-hawk :)

Friday, June 8th: Nom nom nom... looking out the window quickly turned to eating the exersaucer :)

Saturday, June 9th: Picked out my new bedroom set (complete with mattress and bedding) and got to seriously hitting the to-do list hard!

Happy 1/2 Birthday!!

One Month

Two Months

Three Months

Four Months

Five Months

Six Months
What a little MAN Hudson has become in the last 6 months!  He's growing and changing so quickly I'm scared to blink :) Here's a recap of what's going on at this point:
  • Hudson has put on 10 pounds and grown almost half a foot in the last 6 months!! 16 pounds 8 ounces and 25.5 inches long :)
  • Wearing mostly 6 month and 6-9 month clothing with a few 9 month rompers thrown in for variety
  •  Wearing size 2 shoes
  •  Wearing size 3 diapers (love the Pampers Baby Dry and Babies R Us brand, though neither will keep him from wetting through at night)
  •  Sleep is still erratic, but he usually naps for about 1/2 an hour first thing in the morning (between 8 and 9), about an hour around lunchtime, and between 1 and 2 hours around dinnertime.  Dinnertime is usually around 7pm followed by bathtime, nursing, and bed between 830 and 930. From there, he usually gets up 2 or 3 times (but goes right back down after eating) before getting up around 7am.
  •  Loves eating at the table and will actually get angry if he's not included in dinnertime.  He'll taste just about anything off our fingers, but still doesn't really like veggies straight.  We've bumped him up to the stage 2 foods recently to get some of those "hidden" veggies in (though most aren't really hidden).  Some of the stuff he loves to taste: any kind of condiment/dressing/coating - from mustard to ranch to teriyaki to salsa and everything in between.  Some of the foods he eats: bananas, apples, strawberries, peaches, plums, raspberries/blackberries/blueberries/cherries (as "mixed berries"), squash, peas, carrots, corn.  Up soon: green beans, pears (the first time didn't go so well, so we need to see if he's gotten my allergy or if it just upset his tummy), meats, black beans, spinach, mangoes, macaroni & cheese with veggies, banana puffs, cheese flavored puffs and teether cookies, small pieces of green beans, carrots, and potatoes.  The pediatrician wants him to start developing his pincer grip from the grabbing of his paci to putting foods in his mouth and wants him to start drinking water and diluted juice from a sippy cup! Where has my baby gone?!?!?!?
  •  He can say (though not consistently and/or on demand): Mama, Mimi, boobie, and hi.
  •  He still loves his doggy from Ms. LaTonya best, but has really gotten into his doorway jumper and tri-legged exersaucer.  He's starting to understand the whole "push buttons to make music" thing, so a doorway into cooler toys will be opening very soon.  He loves his play mat at Mimi & Pop's house, but doesn't like the one here (strange, huh?), still doesn't really like the swing (but likes to swing at the park, so maybe we'll get him one of the plastic ones to hang on Mimi & Pop's swingset).
  •   Loves playing peek-a-boo, especially if you can scare him in the process; is starting to enjoy "toss the baby" (though I never toss him out of my hands, promise!); and ABSOLUTELY ADORES looking in the mirror.
  •  He's got the pincer grip down pat when it comes to picking up his paci (after he takes one finger and pops it out of his mouth over and over and over and over...), but hasn't really translated that skill to picking up anything else.  The paci usually goes in the mouth crooked (or completely backwards), but we've started to see a few more instances of correct insertion lately.  He's recently started rubbing his eyes when he gets tired... not like whole-face scrubbing, but very purposeful rubbing, like an adult would do.  He knows the difference between Nate and I and what he can do with each of us: with Nate he knows that he can wrestle and roughhouse and will bounce on his lap more and chew on him and wrangle with his arm when being held; with me, he lays on his back and will rub the side of my face SO gently with his open palm and cradle my face between his hands and give kisses :)  He rolls over both shoulders from belly to back and can get most of the way from back to belly, but usually gets frustrated and flops back over to look at me instead.  He sits up for a little while at a time.  I think he can sit up, but realizes that his toes are there and wants to chew on them, bends over to eat them, then falls over.  He doesn't really seem too interested in trying to crawl, but will jump for an hour and stand up unassisted for about 10 minutes steadily, then gets wobbly kneed, and is starting to pick up his feet and move them around when we hold his hands, so I'm thinking walking isn't toooooooo far away.
I'm sure there's more that he's up to, but honestly, if I don't get this posted, each day that goes by, he learns new tricks that I could add on.  It's been an incredible six months and I can't wait to see how he continues to thrive and develop over the next six (and beyond).

Week 22: 5/27/12-6/2/12

Sunday, May 27th: Still not really liking the waves, but we decided that the beach is the perfect place to nap... especially Hudson who slept over 2 1/2 hours (pretty much the entire time we were at the beach today, since it was super duper windy and we were already fried from yesterday). When we went to go out this evening, he was rockin' a 'do that looked like the Mayor of Whoville - what a cutie!
Monday, May 28th: Happy Memorial Day!! Today, we decided to go to the pool instead of the beach, so Hudson got to ride in his floatie.

Tuesday, May 29th: Back to Greensboro we go (boo, I miss the beach already!) in time to sneak by and see Daddy and get Sissies to their last Chorus concert of the year.

Wednesday, May 30th: Hudson took two 2+ hour naps today!
Thursday, May 31st: OMG! My "spring cleaning/to-do list" is monstrous :-/ I've been compiling this for about a month now and have actually knocked about 5 things off, but still... this is scary!
Friday, June 1st: Happy 15th Birthday Alyssa! Hudson got some cake too... which was hilarious and super messy :-P

Saturday, June 2nd: Lyssie has her 8th grade dance tonight :)
