Week 21: 5/20/12-5/26/12

Sunday, May 20th: What a sweet cuddlebunny Hudson was today. We had our DriveTime ALS walk (which I totally didn't get any pictures of because I'm a slacker).

Monday, May 21st: What in the world is going on with his hair today? No matter how many times I wet it and lay it down flat, it keeps doing this fly-away/baby chicken thing. I got to be a grown up today too and bought a new stove. Our old one had the burners on top, but only one of them worked consistently. One of the others was broken and sunk into the surface, the other two had bad connections and would only work when they wanted to, and no matter how much I scrub it, it never came all the way clean (it came with the house when it was built in the 90s, so it's a little dated). I can't wait for it to get here!
Tuesday, May 22nd: Coffee date with Ms. Joy and I bought Hudson a new big boy carseat. It's super awesome: 3 way positioning, converts from rear to forward facing, and is safe for 5-100 pounds. I've had my eye on it for about a month now and it's on sale for $89.99 at BJs!
Wednesday, May 23rd: Ended up spending the night in Raleigh since it was so late after trying to get that stupid carseat installed in my car. The buckets are too deep, so there's no way to get it to recline enough to be safe for rear-facing. Then we tried putting it in my parents' van since their seats are mostly flat, but it wouldn't buckle tightly enough to feel safe. Maybe we're doing it wrong? Super down since I was so excited about it.
Thursday, May 24th: Such a busy day today; have 13654616516431547642897786974426872444825346 things to do to get ready to leave for the beach tomorrow with Mimi, Pop, Auntie and Unkie for the long weekend. The one thing I didn't put on my to-do list? Take time to snuggle the sleeping baby. Good thing Hudson reminded me!

Friday, May 25th: Yay Beach!! Got all packed up and headed to the beach tonight. As soon as we got there, Hudson had a meltdown and didn't want to eat dinner, Blake had a tantrum about wanting to sleep in the living room since he'd be the last one up at night and the first one up in the morning, then he and Pop immediately fell asleep (at like 830pm mind you). But the view of the sunset over the golf course our condo was on was phenomenal!

Saturday, May 26th: Onwards to the beach!! Hudson decided that he didn't like the water (too cold) or the waves (too scary) or the sand (too sticky), but loves napping in the breeze. We all (the big people, not Hudson) wore SPF 30 since it was mostly the first time in the sun (and because I'm soooo pasty), and Mimi got crispy-fried and I got no color at all... strange!!

Week 20: 5/13/12-5/19/12

Sunday, May 13th: Happy Mother's Day! We spent the night in Raleigh last night for Gillian's puppy's welcome home party, so we got to enjoy some time with Mimi & Pop for Mommy's Day :) We went to Pullen Park to ride the choo-choo, carousel, and swings.

Monday, May 14th: Out and about walking around shopping centers today since it was so nice (and hoping the fresh air would tire him out) and he's started chewing on his thumbs - not sucking, mind you, but chewing. Hopefully those teeth will make their grand entrance soon.
Tuesday, May 15th: Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! Raleigh again today, running around town with Mimi, showing off the adorable little man :)

Wednesday, May 16th: Didn't get a picture of it, but the weird highlight of my day was seeing a cow walking down the shoulder of I-40 this afternoon. Not like we live in the country so it was a HUGE shock to see her just trotting along.
Thursday, May 17th: This is Hudson's newest thing: bat baby! For whatever reason, he LOVES hanging upside down. Cute? Yes... except when he throws himself backwards from a standing position and you're left scrambling to avoid dropping him... good thing he's cute!
Friday, May 18th: I was driving down the road today, looked in my rearview mirror and saw this little boy where my baby had been. When did he grow up?
Saturday, May 19th: Lyssie's Choral Ensemble group sang the National Anthem at the Greensboro Grasshopper's game tonight, so Mimi & Pop came into town to see her and for Hudson's first baseball game :)

Week 19: 5/6/12-5/12/12

Sunday, May 6th: Last day of Daddy being on vacation :*(  Today, we held Hudson upside down and tickled him until we were all crying from laughing so hard. This baby LOVES to be upside down. Newest thing: sticking out his tongue all the time. I think he's starting to feel his teeth under his gums because he's rubbing it back and forth, but he looks like a mini Gene Simmons with his tongue always poked out.

Monday, May 7th: Woohoo, I can get my toes in my mouth without any help now!

Tuesday, May 8th: Shopping with Mimi - she's astounded at how chattery Hudson has gotten since she saw him last. Enjoying cuddles before she (grudgingly) heads back to Raleigh.
Wednesday, May 9th: Yep, he's definitely my baby... Hudson has to put his toes on EVERYTHING! I kept scooting my computer further away from him at breakfast and he kept scootching down in his chair so he could rest his toes on top of my screen, lol. Today was the first time we went to Story Time for Lap Babies (Hudson was the youngest one there) and Meagan and Ethan went with! The boys were standing in front of each other before it started and they leaned in towards each other and were giving "hugs". Then, when we sat them up next to each other, they were holding hands. Best Friends!!

Thursday, May 10th: LONG drive to Asheville to see Ashley today. Okay, the drive there was fantastic. Hudson slept most of the way. The drive home, on the other hand, took about 75% longer than it should've because he was screaming bloody murder, wouldn't fall asleep, and we kept having to stop. Lesson: Don't drive more than 1.5-2 hours with the baby without someone riding in the backseat to keep him entertained.
Friday, May 11th: Pretty uneventful day today. The highlight was actually how well Hudson slept last night (I guess crying for 4+ hours on the way home last night tuckered him out): went down at 930, got up at 220 and 4 to nurse, then up for the morning at 645!
Saturday, May 12th: Today is my sister Megan's friend Gillian's dog Cody's (whew, are you following this?) Welcome Home Party. The housekeeper accidentally let Cody out last week and the cookout is a party to thank everyone who helped look for him, worried about him, and or supported the family while he was missing. It was a FANTASTIC evening. I taught Megan's friends to tumble in the back yard, Hudson sat up in the grass by himself for nearly 2 minutes (with a frog about to jump up his shorts) and the girls got to play with teeny tiny puppies!
