Today is: November 8, 2012 **no picture this week, sorry!**
How far along: 14
weeks
Total weight gain: About 3 pounds
Baby is the size of: A lemon...about 3.5" and 1.5
oz.
What's going on with the babe: Baby can now squint, frown,
pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb. Fun. ;) Baby's liver starts making bile
this week, and his/her spleen has begun helping in the production of red blood
cells.
What's going on with the mama: This 2nd trimester isn't
feeling so 2nd trimester-y so far. :\
Baby is a: Boy or a girl. We
have an ultrasound on the 21st (which puts us one day before 16 weeks). I plan to ask them if we can take a peek and see if we can see anything since we saw "outdoor plumbing" with Hudson around 14 weeks, but I'm not sure if they'll agree since it's supposed to be a growth ultrasound. We don't have a gender ultrasound scheduled yet, but they normally do them around 20 weeks, which would put us around Christmas. I'm hoping to reveal gender with our Christmas cards (I have some really great ideas!) so I hope we can see something before then!
Maternity
clothing: Still no. I'm actually showing a little less this week than previously, so most of my normal clothes fit without being uncomfortable still.
Sleep: Sleep is the same. No complaints. Hudson is starting to sleep a little better, so I'm pretty content. The time change has been a little tough, but we're managing.
Movement: Still feeling little
flutters.
Cravings/Aversions: Nothing really? Bagels mostly. Aversions... Hudson's diaper changes are making me a little queasy, whether dirty or just wet, but no sickness.
Symptoms: exhaustion, back pain, headaches
How this pregnancy is different than before: Not really all that different from Hudson's. Feeling pretty good for the most part.
How the big brother was this week: Oh man, this little guy is all over the place! I can't believe that next month we'll be throwing him his first birthday party!
The best moment(s)
of this past week: Hoping to get to know the gender this month, and doing a little window shopping for little Squiggles. We're starting to narrow down the names list too, so hopefully we'll land on something by the time we figure out what kind of "plumbing" little one has!
I'm looking forward to: Another ultrasound!

11 Month Update
One Month: 7 pounds 14 ounces & 21 inches |
Two Months: 10 pounds 12 ounces & 21.25 inches |
Three Months: 12 pounds 4 ounces & 23.5 inches |
Four Months: 14 pounds 2 ounces & 24 inches |
Five Months: 15 pounds 8 ounces & 25 inches |
Six Months: 16 pounds 8 ounces & 26.5 inches |
Seven Months: 17 pounds 15 ounces & 27 inches |
Eight Months: 18 pounds 4 ounces & 27.5 inches |
Nine Months: 19 pounds 4 ounces & 28 inches |
Ten Months: 20 pounds & 28.5 inches |
Eleven Months: 21 pounds 10 ounces & 29 inches |
We're moving up to size 4 diapers ASAP. It's time, but we've just opened a new pack of 3's at both our house and Mimi's, so we'll go through those first, but we'll switch at nighttime. He's wearing entirely 12 month and a few 18 month things now, size 4 shoes, but they're starting to get a little small.
A week after he turned 10 months old, we had another bout with thrush (only me at first it seemed, though he's had a diaper rash that won't go away, so I'm not sure if he's got it too) and had to (unfortunately cold-turkey since it was an emergency situation) stop breastfeeding. There's really nothing this little guy won't eat though, so I'm not too worried. I've been giving him some of the Pediasure diet correction drinks though to make sure he's well-rounded, but he's still adorably chunky so I'm sure he's fine.
He'll repeat (or attempt to) just about everything we say now. It's not always intelligible and some sounds mean a couple different things so we have to rely on context quite a bit.
He's still obsessed with all things technological, switch-y, or button-y. He's very set on his morning routine with Daddy - getting his clothes into the dryer, drinking water out of a big-people cup, opening and closing doors, putting in contacts, etc.
We've put the final touches on his birthday party and I'm trying to get things squared away for his one-year photo shoot and our family pictures for the Christmas cards.

13 Weeks Pregnant (For Sure This Time): 11/1/12
Today is: November 1, 2012
How far along: 13 weeks...2nd trimester! Woohoo!
Total weight gain: 3.8 pounds (down a little over 2 pounds from last week)
Baby is the size of: A peach...about 3" and almost a full ounce!
What's going on with the babe: Baby's fingerprints have formed, and he or she is forming vocal cords and teeth.
What's going on with the mama: I'm absolutely exhasted! I don't know if it's just pregnancy or an active baby or all the chaos going on at home, but I'm whooped.
Baby is a: Boy or a girl. We're going to ask if they'll take a peek at our ultrasound on the 22nd, but if not, we'll know before Christmas for sure.
Maternity clothing: Nope. In fact, I was wearing my favorite size 0 jeans the other day. They're a little snug on my legs (since that's the first thing to start growing) but not abnormally so.
Sleep: Sleep is the same.
Movement: I felt baby's first movements this week, which is around the same point that I felt it with Hudson, but I'm looking forward to feeling it all the time.
Cravings/Aversions: All I want is a bagel!
Symptoms: fatigue, exhaustion, stitches in my lower back, acne :(
How this pregnancy is different than the first: I'm not showing as much as I thought I would be
How the big brother was this week: He's about to turn 11 months old! He's walking around all the time, but still won't do it on his own; he's just barely touching my fingertips, but won't let go.
The best moment(s) of this past week: Feeling movement! Getting the final touches in place for Hudson's birthday party and getting together everyone's Christmas lists so we can start shopping soon.
I'm looking forward to: Starting Christmas shopping with my mom - I'm hoping that we can have everything purchased and wrapped by Thanksgiving (or that weekend right afterwards)

Week 43: 10/21/12-10/27/12
Sunday, October 21st: We ended up staying the night in Raleigh to go to the pumpkin patch (we'd planned for yesterday, but Hudson went down for a strangely timed nap and we wouldn't have had enough time to go all the way out there, enjoy all that there was to do, take cute pictures, and pick a pumpkin before they closed), so here are a few favorites!
Monday, October 22nd: Pop and mini-Pop going for a walk with the puppies... I don't know which of the 4 of them enjoy it the most (but I'm thinking it's Hudson since he goes ballistic when we pull out the pack)
Tuesday, October 23rd: Hudson was sitting on the floor, playing with toys, when Tara (not pictured) jumped out the doggy door onto the deck. Over the next 5-10 minutes, Hudson tentatively made his way over there, and examined the flap that covers the opening, eventually realizing that it leads to outside. This picture is NOT staged, it's just at the end of his exploration as he tried to copy the puppy and head out onto the deck.
Wednesday, October 24th: Hello Squiggles! Official due date is May 9th, but we'll be inducing on April 18th. (S)he is looking great with a strong heartbeat and adorably jerky movements. We'll be heading back in about a month for another look at our little cutie!
Thursday, October 25th: Oh, he's sooo Nate's child - guitar and video game controller. Good thing I love him, now that I've got a mini version too ;-)
Saturday, October 27th: Well, I guess this is the outcome of the doggy door incident from last week, but from the outside looking in. Hudson has officially become comfortable with sticking his head out the door, and if someone is on the other side, has even wiggled his way through a couple times. Guess we know where to look for him if he goes missing, huh?

Friday, October 26th: Auntie Megan (Rara as Hudson has taken to calling her) was going to a Halloween party this evening and wanted to bring Hudson by to show him off to her friends (she's so in love with him; they're BFFs!) so we dressed him up in his dinosaur/dragon outfit, which he HATED, to let him prance around.

Week 42: 10/14/12-10/20/12
Sunday, October 14th: This might just have to be my favorite thing about babies' memories: even if a toy is in their faces all the time, when they haven't played with it in a while, then you put it all up in his/her face, it's new all over again!
Monday, October 15th: I FINALLY FOUND ONE! I've been looking for another one of these since Hudson was about 2 months old and his clip on vibrator died (my mom got it at her baby shower when she was pregnant with Blake... 15+ years ago, so it was time). Thank you, Walmart!
Tuesday, October 16th: I know that I'm hindering this whole teaching-him-to-sleep thing, but I just love this face so much that it's really hard to not snuggle and adore him when he FINALLY goes down for a nap!
Wednesday, October 17th: We met Mimi at the Tanger outlet today to work on knocking out a few things on our Christmas lists, and Hudson got to play on the playground equipment while we were there. He loved climbing up the stairs almost by himself and enjoyed it when I slid him down the second half (it was a big slide and I was scared he'd be going too fast from the top) of the slide!
Thursday, October 18th: Another sleeping picture, sorry! He's working on 2.5+ hours at this point, and I'm just amazed!
Friday, October 19th: No picture today; it was a rather uneventful day. Hudson was a little off-kilter, so we headed to Raleigh to visit Mimi and Pop's house, since that always makes him feel better.
Saturday, October 20th: Hudson loves riding on shoulders; I think it's because he likes to be tall. That being said, he wiggles like crazy most of the time, but he'll sit docilely on Pop for some reason. I guess he was just mesmerized by the NC State game, and all that movement!

Week 41: 10/7/12-10/13/12
Sunday, October 7th: I decided to make a recipe that I'd seen on facebook where you core an apple, bake it, the put vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce inside and it's supposed to make a sort of healthy version of apple pie... but mine was ugly... and it wasn't all that tasty either. :(
Monday, October 8th: Hudson hasn't been feeling too well, but you'd never know it here. I made chicken rice bake for him and he's the happiest baby in the world!
Tuesday, October 9th: We went to visit Presti, Jake and Bailey today, and Hudson adores her! The bottom picture shows a size comparison (Presti makes super-baby-growing milk, so her kiddos are both gigantinormous!)... Hudson is 10 months old and Bailey is 11 weeks old! The top picture shows him laying his head down on the floor when he started to get sleepy - first time he's ever done this and it was soooo cute!
Wednesday, October 10th: Well, Hudson has decided that, without any practice, he's learned to climb entire flights of stairs (with supervision and a "helper" walking right behind/beside him just in case).
Thursday, October 11th: Alright, here's this week's belly picture... I think our dating might be off, so we're going in for another ultrasound to check baby's size and see if we can get a solid, concrete idea of how far along we are and when that means we'll be inducing.
Friday, October 12th: My high school had it's 50th anniversary homecoming game tonight, so we went to show our support. Hudson enjoyed running into Suz while waiting for prescriptions and dinner beforehand, but wasn't too thrilled with the game... or maybe it was just that he was bundled and cuddled :)
Saturday, October 13th: Hudson and Toby were in charge of deciding what we're having for brunch today at Mimi and Pop's house... the verdict: Hudson said "straw" and Toby was content with licking Hud.

Week 40: 9/30/12-10/6/12
Sunday, September 30th: Nate's dad (Papaw) came to visit this weekend. I was a little sick, so it took us a while to get here to see him, but it was nice for Hudson to meet another grandparent. He started imitating car sounds since Papaw and Daddy were playing Gran Turismo, which was so stinkin' cute!
Monday, October 1st: The beginning of October already? Yikes! And what a nasty day it's starting out to be - chilly and rainy, but we've broken out our cold-weather clothes. I'm going to blame it on the rain, but we were sporting some pretty crazy hair :)
Tuesday, October 2nd: Oh, my son is such a diva. He would NOT sit still for a picture as soon as he saw Auntie's cookie... no matter that he'd just eaten one of his own, HE HAD TO HAVE HERS!! On a happier note, Hudson learned to say "cracker" and "moo" and "boof" (boof boof = dog).
Wednesday, October 3rd: Today we get to see Squiggles! Heart rate was 187 and baby was VERY active. Due date has tentatively been moved from 4/28/13 to 5/9/13, but we'll know more in a few weeks when we go back again.
Thursday, October 4th: Hudson is 10 months old today... and wanted NOTHING to do with his elephant for his picture, lol.
Friday, October 5th: We're not 100% sure of our dates after this week's ultrasound, so we're just going to do some pictures and eventually we'll figure out what we're really looking at.
Saturday, October 6th: And this is why I don't do nature... creepy crawlies are NOT my friend! Get me the heck outta here :-/
